53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. 54 Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire.
This is my story, this is my song.
Avoiding my Savior all the day long.
I trail behind him, following at a distance,
Preferring my suffering to His.
Warming my hands by the fire with those who mock my Lord,
I let Him die alone.
Why do I do this? I don’t know.
I wish I understood.
I’d rather lie beside a fake flame then wait for His fire.
But maybe it’s because I was destined to betray.
destined to save.
